Assisi & 3 Roles Every Veterinarian Must Fulfill

By Jennifer Marie Anderson

A veterinarian, by definition, is a medical specialist who is trained to medicate and treat the illnesses and conditions of animals. These duties can be applied to a litany of creatures, ranging from household pets like dogs and cats to even horses and cows. However, you may wonder what the main duties of these individuals are. With the guidance of Assisi in mind, here are 3 of the main duties that these men and women are trained to carry out.

One of the many duties veterinarians have is check-ups, which are usually administered from year to year. According to Assisi, these specialists must be able to see how healthy these animals are, ensuring that they are getting as much exercise needed, in addition to the proper food. Of course, there are other elements which play into this. In fact, it's easy to see that we will get more into aspects of health as this piece goes into other details.

It's also worth noting that veterinarians can target and help skin infections in pets. If you're talking about cats, for example, it's important to note the potential presence of yeast infections, which are most common around or within the ears. Some of the common signs of yeast infection include visible discharge or constant itching. For this reasons, it's important to contact your vet and see what he or she can do in order to help the matter.

You should also know that veterinarians are not only tasked with helping small animals. The larger types, horses included, must also be evaluated through check-ups and the like. It's also worth noting that their living situations will evaluated, meaning that everything from food to climate will be talked about between vets and the owners of the horses in question. To say that the capabilities of veterinarians are broad would be nothing short of an understatement.

To put it simply, veterinarians are responsible for carrying out several actions. Each of these are related to animal care and it's easy to see why pet owners will stay in contact with these men and women. Medication may be administered, which goes without saying, and I believe that it's just as important to recognize check-ups, no matter how rudimentary they might seem. Stay in touch with your veterinarian, and make the important calls when problems start to arise.
