Find Relief Naturally With A Reiki Healer

By Beverly C. Ralph

Natural, homeopathic and alternative types of healing are gaining popularity. The fact that they are pain free, non-invasive, and have no recorded negative side effects is what makes them attractive to so many individuals. Attending a session with a reiki healer can help a person find relief from a lot of different conditions.

Based on the belief that we all have a spirit power residing inside of us, this is a Japanese healing technique. The name combines the words Rei, meaning "universal life or higher power", and Ki, which represents "energy". Used in conjunction they translate into "life force energy", which is something that is believed to give the individual the power to self heal their body and their soul.

While the practice is spiritual in its nature, it is not at all religious based and has no association with a particular belief system. There is no dogma that must be followed in order to use this technique. A person does not even have to believe in the power of energy transference in order for it to work.

A session typically lasts between 60-90 minutes during which time the client rests comfortably in a chair or laying on their back upon a table. They start by discussing their particular issues with the practitioner and explaining to them what they hope to achieve with this healing. This gives the therapist a better idea of where to focus the energy they will be transferring.

It is generally suggested that the client wear loose, comfortable, non binding or restricting clothing to the session. The individual will always remain completely clothed, though the lighter the garments are, the more easily the energy exchange tends to go. There is rarely any physical contact between the practitioner and the client, though at times very light touches may be necessary.

The session continues with the practitioner starting at either the client's head or their feet and performing a routine set of hand positions. The purpose of these is to direct their energy into the individual in a way which relaxes them and balances the chakras. Once that has been accomplished, it is easier to focus and target the specific issues.

This practice does not claim to be a cure for any diseases or illness, though it is used to treat many conditions. These include stress, anxiety, insomnia, high blood pressure, pain, headaches, asthma, addiction and detoxification. Many people find this technique quite useful in dealing with, and overcoming, a variety of mental and physical maladies.
